in caelo et in terra

De Profundis

Los cien enamorados
duermen para siempre
bajo la tierra seca.
Andalucía tiene
largos caminos rojos.
Córdoba, olivos verdes
donde poner cien cruces
que los recuerden.
Los cien enamorados
duermen para siempre.

De Profundis

Those hundred lovers
are asleep forever
beneath the dry earth.
Andalusia has
long, red-colored roads.
Córdoba, green olive trees
for placing a hundred crosses
to remember them.
Those hundred lovers
are asleep forever.

Federico Garcia Lorca

MOSTLY MARGUTTI was beautiful. I don't know how to write what I felt. The pieces were delicate and passionate and transcendent. That is all. They were sung with love. I thought this would have been my first concert, but I'm still in the "new guy" limbo which is strange and frustrating. Besides, I think I have forgotten how to sing. Losing something that's understood to be permanent is a terrible and lonely ordeal. I wish I could find someone to talk about it and, by the delight and amusement of mutual recognition and empathy, we would laugh the debilitation away, away where it will never come haunting us again.
