Breathe Like You're Dancing
WARNING: STOMP-esque "I want to be a citizen journalist too" post
I was coming home one day and noticed the commotion and the ambulance. At first, I thought someone decided to plunge to his/her death, or some poor domestic worker who was cleaning a window. Anyway, there were skid marks.
And to our horror, we thought the void deck was turned into a car-showroom when we spotted the very-out-of-place taxi, but it was just an accident, phew. Looks like the only thing badly injured was the taxi, but the driver, who was actually an acquaintance of ours, had to be sent for a period of observation.
It felt very touristy all of a sudden, there were more photographs taken there than when Paris Hilton was released from prison (oh the humanity!), and we thought perhaps this was all a very clever installation art piece.
But more importantly...
I have chocolate and I'll use them as bribes now that school has reopened!! You can't go wrong with a box of Godivas.
Just kidding, I'm really innocent, ok?

Does This Mean You're Moving On
Because I can't think of clever, one-word titles to label my posts, I'm going to name each one after a random emo song from now on. (much like they do on One Tree Hill?)
I need to talk about Hong Kong! There aren't enough blogs out there that talk about Hong Kong, how odd. The night before my flight, I was frantically searching all over the Web for random snippets that might suddenly become useful, but nope. Nada. Zilch.
Why I am swearing off mangoes for the rest of the year
Want to know what that is?? They called it Mango Pudding in Mango Juice with Extra Mango, and I was badly traumatized when I saw the huge scoop of mango ice-cream that they slopped lovingly in the centre of the bowl.
Ok, I exaggerate. Actually, it was kinda good. But then again, too much of a good thing can be a bad thing (unless it's chocolate).
There was also Gui Ling Gao. Which made me think twice about consuming food that is rarely described in English, because I had only just learnt that the 'Gui' in Gui Ling Gao was really turtle shell, as the menu there had so kindly pointed out. Shocked, I tried turning to mother for reassurance and consolation, but in a matter-of-factly tone, she informed me that if I have eaten jelly, then I could eat Gui Ling Gao as well. And as usual, I shouldn't have asked why, because my parents started talking about how they get jelly from animal bones, and started to talk about their vegan friend etc. etc.
There was also this mango and pomelo/grapefruit dessert that was rather refreshing, but annoyingly has a bitter aftertaste, presumably from the grapefruit and pomelos.
And according to the table, we had to order our food within three minutes or else we'd get chased out.
Why I had to go on a low-carb low-fat diet right after the trip
Cuts of meat in HK are much juicier and tastier, not to mention generous. Went crazy with the Char Siew. Felt slightly sick.
Why I'm having difficulty adjusting to the MRT again
The platforms there are really cool. They are slightly longer than the average MRT station, and the Central interchange station is this really cool maze of different platforms and funky mosaic tiles.
At the MTR, we witnessed a miracle! Everyone actually queued up to enter the train, while letting the communters inside exit first! And everyone kept to their right when they went up the escalators. It's like some unwritten rule, or something.
During peak hour, the movements are largely mechanical, because it's all 1) Emerge, 2) Walk up the escalator, 3) Tap card, 4) Keep on walking, and all at the speed of not less than 20 km/h! But that's just a rough estimate. I felt like I was caught up in a daily-occurring human tsunami.
Andthenwewentshoppingandeatingthenwetookaplanehome.
Oh, did I mention we went to Macau for one day too? My cameraphone died on me, so I have no photographs!! :(
I miss Hong Kong!!
(Note that the date that I started typing the first paragraph was a week ago.)

49! I ain't so bad afterall! (plus, one point shouldn't have been in there because it was about hair colour)
And why do people love sounding clever and important?
Mac OS 10.5 Leopard is out!
I think we live in a stupid, pretentious world. But can there be anyway of expressing this personal grieviance in a way that doesn't make one appear stupid and pretentious as well? And by saying that, I'm presenting myself as pretentious and bastardy as well. And then again. Now I'm stuck in a never-ending loop!
So now you know how my mind works under medication and viral infections.
(I dreamt that 301 went for a picnic with Mr Rodrigues on a really steep hill and our food kept slipping off the wet grass, so we attached harnesses to the disposable plastic plates! And there were sponge cakes, madelines and sausages! And then I saw visions of neon signages and ferris wheels, and that's when my head started to throb.)

As random as I can get
I need to clear up some random assortment of emotional baggage before I'm in the right state of mind to blog about my HK trip! Like missing someone's wedding because of SL camp. (!@#$%^) Oh... but it's okay. yeah, right.
But.
1) My trip to Hong Kong rocked, not because I bought lots of things, or ate really nice food and that pancake thing that Elizabeth was talking about, but because I finally could spend some time with my family. Without other distractions. And I didn't miss Singapore! But, I missed my grandparents, and you-know-whos-with-names-that-I-can't-mention-because-if-I-did-I'll-accidentally-leave-someone-out-and-it's-not-really-very-good.
2) ZIZHAO'S COMING BACK SOON!
Which is good because she has been dearly missed by loved ones here! But bad in a self-centred kind of way because we've still not given her the stuff that she wanted us to send her all the way to Cleveland. (shame)
3) I've bought this pair of cream trousers (from the HK equivalent of the Club 21 sale) that doesn't fit me perfectly, and I need someone who's interested in it so I can give it a good home, or else I'll probably ebay it. It's size 30.
4) I'm falling sick and I fear waking up feeling faint, with a fever, rendering me semi-conscious and having to miss yet another debate training!!
5) G8 summit video footage and news broadcasts are making me quite annoyed at times but hey we all have to start by agreeing and acknowledging that there's a problem, right -.- And seeing the need to solve it. But perhaps finally agreeing that concrete measures are important as well would at least make it more fruitful (relatively).
6) Everyone's becoming more emotional and reflective to the point of mild irritation. I'm somewhat more amused when I look at sec 1 clique-ishness and all the drama involved, especially when I'm watching from the 3rd person's point of view and sniggering, while decrypting, at the comments on my sister's tagboard.
7) I saw Lim Boon Heng while clearing immigration at the Changi Airport!
8) I can't believe that Paris Hilton's been released from prison prematurely!
9) I didn't buy a new school bag because mine has some sort of sentimental value, after all these tumultuous years in the education system.
But.

Of hope
They say that a friend to many is a friend to none. Perhaps...
Urgh.
Anyway, I dread the day when people I once knew start to drift away to the point where one does not even say 'hi' upon meeting, resulting in somewhat long, uncomfortable moments while waiting for someone to make the first move, but apprehensive of the impression that one will impose.
Elizabeth attributes me with 'hope' on her blog. But that's ironic, I feel, because sometimes it's not hope that I bring, but rather, trouble and doubt that will only mess with everyone's plans. Emotional baggage doesn't hold well with most people, but I think I'm only finally starting to treasure those who do care, and not because they have an agenda, but because it is a natural and organic response to do so.
You're probably annoyed that I'm complaining, while others have much more problems already so quit whining, but sometimes I have no one to talk to but my blog. If I was an emo chick, I'd buckle up and start whimpering by now, but I'm not, so there.
I remember doing an unseen text for literature that featured Expectations vs. Reality as a theme, and seeing the current state of self-centred pity that I'm wallowing in, it's the role of a spoilt brat that I'm destined for. The one that the audience will hiss and boo at, the antithesis of a role model that parents will continually talk to their kids about.
And my blog is not emo. There's a dichotomy that needs to be drawn between what's emo and what's reflection. That line is (not really just intellect alone, but) the fact that you pick up the pieces and move on. And since when was emo such a degratory word?
Okay so the only person I'm angry at is myself. Yep, I'm that ugly 3rd-rate human smiling like an idiot in those photographs.
Read between the lines.
This is so confusing!
